Contrary to what one might think, the stay in the maternity ward is far from being a moment of rest. After a sometimes laborious delivery, we find ourselves a few more days away from home. In a place where we meet a little human who turns our lives upside down, where the information to assimilate accumulates and where the medical visits multiply. Suffice to say that emotional and physical fatigue (because sleep is rarely restorative) is felt more than ever. Also, to add a bit of fantasy to this period that is not always easy for young mothers, here are 5 ideas that will "pimp up" your stay in the maternity ward!

Provide a mini bar and sweets for guests

At the maternity ward, visits are increasing! To receive your guests as it should be, you can ask that one of them brings back a minibar with drinks and nice snacks to nibble. Unless you choose to breastfeed, you finally have the freedom to eat whatever you want, so enjoy!

Take your pillow to make yourself at home

Despite all the efforts made by the nursing staff, your nights in the maternity ward will always remain less restful than those you spend at home (well, before Baby arrives!). Bringing a pillow from home will give you a taste of the comfort you will soon find again!

Get dinner delivered better than the hospital

It's no secret that hospital meals are more about punishment than reward. Fortunately, oh joy and splendor of the smartphone era, with two clicks on an application or a phone call, you can have a delicious meal delivered! Fast food, pizzas, Japanese restaurant (the return of sushi!)… Treat yourself, you deserve it.

To pause your brain and enjoy a moment of respite while Baby sleeps, nothing beats a little Netflix episode. The catalog of series and films is far too vast for you not to find what you are looking for!

The stay in the maternity ward is definitely not the time in your life when you feel glamorous. Take advantage of your free time to start reconciling with your body! For example, suggest that your partner bring back some massage oil, especially if you have heavy legs (the massage is also an excellent excuse to regain intimacy with your partner). You can also make a small refreshing beauty mask, or even pack small makeup essentials in your maternity suitcase. Even if women don't have to be beautiful in all circumstances, it can be good to feel beautiful!
