The LYCRA Company announces 2 major innovations: LYCRA® EcoMade fiber and LYCRA FitSense technology
Two major innovations are announced by The LYCRA Company, leader in the field of innovative fibers and technological solutions for the fashion and textile industry, two technological innovations and new solutions in favor of the circular economy:
This revolutionary innovation offers a patented water dispersion that contains the same molecule as LYCRA® fiber, but in liquid form. LYCRA® FitSense™ technology is screen-printed onto fabric containing LYCRA® fiber to provide lightweight, targeted support that can be combined with visual effects such as patterns or solid colors. Result ? No more double layers of fabric, no more uncomfortable extra seams that could limit movement. LYCRA® FitSense™ technology helps create snug, comfortable garments that provide support where needed.
“We first offered LYCRA® FitSense™ technology to some key customers in Europe and the United States and the results were so promising that we are now launching it globally,” said Serge Vigouroux, vice -president Director in charge of marketing for The LYCRA Company. “Customer feedback and product feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and we have had many inquiries from customers who would like to adopt this technology. »
LYCRA® FitSense™ technology can transform sports and athleisure apparel (leggings and tops) and lingerie (classic or sports bras, crop tops, underwear and shapewear) by adding light elastic recovery, a smooth lifting and sheathing effect, as well as targeted support without sacrificing comfort.
“This innovation is a game-changer for our clothing sector, which until now has been mainly focused on fiber technologies,” said Serge Vigouroux. “We are already working on new application processes and other uses in clothing. »
LYCRA® FitSense™ technology offers a range of benefits to printers, makers, brands and retailers. This solution offers unlimited design possibilities integrating functional advantages and makes it possible to differentiate clothing thanks to a high-end offer based on a major innovation”.
LYCRA® EcoMade fiber is the first LYCRA® brand spandex made with recycled industrial content. The company also announced plans to convert the majority of its COOLMAX® and THERMOLITE® polyester fiber production to recycled content by the end of 2021.
