The most fashionable bag of the moment: a box of barilla pasta

The Barilla brand is inseparable from Italian culture: it represents a common passion for pasta all over the world. But today, she becomes fashionable and gets dressed by an American designer named Nikolas Bentel. This one has just turned the famous box of Barilla pasta into an ultra-fashionable handbag. But beware, not just any box. The American artist has set his sights on the penne packet. The reason ? During the long months of confinement, Nikolas Bentel recounts having eaten kilos of it. “Most people have had the same experience staring at that box of pasta. Why not try reinventing the role of this food into something a little more exciting? ".

From there was born a leather handbag halfway between a work of art and a fashion accessory. Everything looks just like the box of pasta: the shape of the package, the colors, and even the label. At the back, you can even find pasta preparation tips. The only difference ? The package is surmounted by a rigid handle and a golden shoulder strap.

Since the bag was revealed, it hasn't gone unnoticed. Images of this quirky-looking bag are doing the rounds on social networks and everyone seems ready to pay the tidy sum of 199 dollars, or around 169 euros, to get it. The success of this "Pasta bag" may surprise however, this is not the first time that a trivial everyday object has become a luxury item in its own right. It has almost become a fashion tradition. We all remember Balenciaga and its Ikea bag sold for 1695 euros, or even Chanel and its bag in the shape of Coconut Milk bricks sold for 7500 euros. Surprising examples and yet today, it is common to see the ugly become beautiful once it is transposed on a catwalk or in the street.

Hard-discounter brands are also adopting luxury codes and launching lines of clothing and accessories. This is particularly the case of Lidl and its famous brightly colored flip-flops initially sold at 3.99 euros and which were resold at exorbitant prices on social networks. Coco Chanel definitely had it all figured out when she said "fashion goes out of style, style never".
