An acquired or hereditary allergy
Generally this form of chronic and recurrent allergy is manifested by simple attacks of urticaria without major complications. It can be either acquired or hereditary. The hereditary forms are transmitted generally last throughout the life of the patient while the acquired forms improve or disappear after a few years. This 34-year-old patient had lived in Micronesia and had suffered several episodes of allergic reaction to cold since moving to Colorado. But until then the only symptoms were attacks of hives.
