We immediately notice that a wind of modernity is blowing on the outfits of our Olympic athletes, which have very modern thermal properties. “The sets showcase our most innovative fabrics and technologies,” said Catherine Lebrun, director of design at Lululemon, via email. She adds that the Team Canada 2022 collection aims to promote Canada as a diverse, inclusive, innovative and modern country.

The different shades of red are at the center of the design of these new clothes, emphasizes Catherine Lebrun.

We also find the maple leaf on the clothing, an essential Canadian emblem in these designs. "The sets offer a view of the maple leaf under the microscope in various places: first, on the print inside the coats for the opening ceremony, then, on the outside for the fence," says Lululemon's design director. The company, headquartered in Vancouver, succeeds Hudson's Bay, official outfitter for Team Canada since the Turin Games in 2006.

The new official uniform also meets the expectations of all athletes. “The clothes are modular and adjustable, which makes it possible to add or remove elements such as the adaptable parka, and to optimize the heat according to the thermal preferences of the athletes, says Catherine Lebrun. They can adjust everything according to their needs, body type and preferences. We also designed a down jacket made specifically for Team Canada wheelchair athletes, featuring a lower collar and abrasion-resistant fabric in the arms. »

The design team also took into account many details for the comfort of athletes. “The sensation, the temperature and the movement, all of that is important so that the athletes of Team Canada can have fun and feel good for the biggest sporting event in the world”, underlines Catherine Lebrun.

Many Team Canada athlete ambassadors posed to promote the event. These include hockey player John Tavares, ice dancers Paul Poirier and Piper Gilles, Frédérique Turgeon from the para-alpine ski team, hockey player Brigette Lacquette, snowboarder Brooke d'Hondt and freestyle skier Cassie Sharpe.
