Decathlon named official partner of the NBA
The NBA launches licensed products in more than 1,200 Decathlon stores worldwide through a partnership in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America.
Decathlon, sporting goods distributors, and the National Basketball Association (NBA) have announced a new multi-year merchandising partnership that makes Decathlon an official NBA partner in many continents. This agreement also marks Decathlon's first partnership with a North American sports league.
A common goal: to develop basketball worldwide
The partnership will include a dedicated range of thermal underwear, accessories and footwear in the colors of the NBA and NBA franchises designed by Decathlon and sold under their “Tarmak” basketball brand. The collection will be sold exclusively in more than 1,200 Decathlon stores worldwide and online at Decathlon.com. The products will be available for pre-order from March 2021 before launching in stores in April 2021.
"Since the creation of Tarmak four years ago, our dream has been to collaborate with the NBA, the largest basketball league in the world," said Damien Dezitter, Head of Tarmak. "We have a common goal to grow basketball around the world, so it's natural to work together to make that possible."
“We are thrilled to partner with Decathlon, a leading sporting goods retailer with a global footprint,” said Steve Griffiths, Director of Global Partnerships, NBA EME. "Through this partnership, NBA fans and basketball players around the world will have access to an innovative line of equipment to help them get into the game of basketball."
