Toray develops a polyester imitating silk
Toray Industries has developed a polyester fabric called Kinari which imitates silk and is suitable for the manufacture of clothing, thanks to its exclusive composite spinning technology Nanodesign ™.By using several polymers, this technology is capable of producing nanofibers with a variety of unusual transversal sections.
In addition to the ease of maintenance inherent in the polyester, the new Kinari fabric is also characterized by the luxurious chandelier, the raw elegance, the airy lightness and the "noise" characteristic of the silk that the conventional polyester does not have.It absorbs perspiration and dries quickly. At the same time, it differs from conventional polyester fabrics in that it is light as silk and offers an incredibly chic radiance.
Toray launches Kinari from fall / winter 2020 for clothing for women and men and kimonos. It is planned to sell 200,000 tonnes in the first year and develop sales at 500,000 meters by the third year.
Toray applied its nanodesign ™ conjugated spray technology to create Kinari, which includes three different polymers, resulting in a single cross section structure.Advanced treatment controls the differences in thermal withdrawal for each polymer to provide the torsion required under thermal treatment, with a delicate space forming between the fibers to add a high volume and moderate fluctuations to the fabric.
The desire to reproduce the properties of silk has long led to the development of synthetic fibers. Toray a conduit sa R&D au cours des cinq dernières décennies non seulement pour reproduire les propriétés de la soie, mais pour les surpasser. One of the first fruits of this quest has been SILLOOKTM, a silky polyester fabric that offers exceptional quality and sensation that are inaccessible with natural fibers.

Toray will develop Kinari for high -end areas not only in Japan but abroad, and will offer it as a textile material that widens the possibilities of clothing. He will respond to the diversification of people's lifestyles and will support rich lifestyles.
Toray had announced earlier in the year having created a new nylon textile thanks to Nanodesign®, offering high water resistance and allowing the use of waterproof treatment (DWR) with an environmental impact lower than fluorinated treatmentsclassic, for outdoor textiles.
The structure of the textile has microscopic slots extending over the length of the wire. The water -repellent treatments fill these slots below the outside diameter of the wire, which also makes treatment more resistant to abrasion. The result is two advantages: - Construction allows textiles to use waterproof chain water -boring C6, which are normally insufficient for outdoor sports and textiles offers more abrasion resistance, which is theOne of the main contributors to the decrease in DWR performance.
