Toulouse.The Akka group formalizes a big contract, ahead of its client's announcement

Le groupe AKKA Technologies, spécialisé dans les services de conseil en ingénierie et services R&D, a annoncé, mercredi 27 mai 2021, sa participation à la construction d’une constellation de près de 300 satellites pour l’un des plus grands opérateurs de satellites mondiaux.

A contract with Thales Alenia Space?

Up to 100 consultants mobilized

For its part, Akka communicates on "a multi -year contract, worth around 20 million euros".A contract which relates to the development of a fleet of satellites "in low orbit at the cutting edge of technology, integrated into ground data networks, with on-board processing, antennas with phase networks and inter-satellite connections»».

During the next two years, up to 100 consultants will be mobilized, in principle, for this project.And this, "in all areas of spatial engineering: definition of system design and architecture, design and mechanical and thermal analysis, development of on -board software, tests of critical systems and integration of the global system".

An in progress social plan

This announcement comes as the group is plagued by social troubles.In December 2020, management had made the decision to set up a job safeguard plan (PSE) in the company after a fall in activity in aeronautics of around 50 % from theSecond quarter 2020.At the start, 1,150 posts were envisaged, the majority being located in Toulouse.

Over the weeks, the group had finally reviewed its copy by lowering the number of threatened jobs.

A reduction always insufficient in the eyes of the unions of the company which blocks under one and the same banner.One thing is certain, the Akka group did not hide its satisfaction by communicating on this contract won in the space.
