A new range of clothing for workers based in Lévis
Levis entrepreneur Mario Fournier recently gave birth to a new entrepreneurial project with Hugo Girard, the famous strongman and television host. The two businessmen launched a month ago Hugo Strong, a new line of clothing aimed primarily at workers.
“As I am quite involved in the construction industry through my shows, it was natural for me to create a business related to this field. Previously, I had been approached by other companies specializing in protective clothing and the idea had been floating around in my head for some time. Through other projects, I met Mario, who was a development agent for a line of European clothing. One thing leading to another, we decided to launch the clothing line in my image,” recalled Mr. Girard, on the origin of Hugo Strong.
Wishing to stand out from other companies operating in this field, the two businessmen entered into an agreement with a European firm. The latter creates the products desired by Hugo Strong Clothing, clothing that bears the brand image of the former strongman. In doing business with a company from the Old Continent, Mario Fournier and Hugo Girard hope to stand out by offering products of greater quality.
“We offer an avant-garde line of clothing. Our products are also comfortable and durable. We didn't just want a workwear line. We wanted people to look forward to putting on their clothes when they get up in the morning. Also, there are several accessories and pockets, which are not necessarily found in other products available in Quebec. […] I don't know why, they are ahead in Europe in the development of clothing for workers and we wanted to offer this progress to our workers. We also have a different approach, we offer clothes adapted to today's work and which can be modified rather than a general model to which the worker must get used, ”explained the two men behind Hugo Strong.

While the new company specializes in workwear, Hugo Strong also offers outdoor and sportswear. With this offer, the Lévis-based firm intends to reach different categories of consumers. And so far, the Hugo Strong adventure has been a success.
While its products are available in some sixty points of sale across the province, mainly merchants specializing in work clothes, the company must already double the area of its warehouse on chemin des Îles in order to cope on demand.
Thanks to its first successes, Hugo Strong plans to continue its growth at its own pace. Early next year, the company plans to announce more good news. In the medium term, Mario Fournier and Hugo Girard want to see the clothes in their line available across Canada.
“We wanted to start off on the right foot, but with growth that didn't suffocate us. There are some great things coming. Quickly, we want to be pan-Canadian and it is not for nothing that we want to double the size of our facilities. But before running, you have to learn to walk. The goal is to expand across Canada and why not, the North American market. But we have enough on our hands right now in Quebec. There is a lot of interest and it is very pleasant,” shared Mr. Girard.
