Briefs or underpants: how to choose your underwear?
There are questions that seem unavoidable (if not relevant) for every man at some point in his life. PSG or OM? Brunette or blonde? Slip or underpants? It is to the latter that we will try to answer in this article. Or, more precisely, trying to see how to choose the right underwear to combine style and comfort on a daily basis.
The habits of the French in terms of underwear
Slip, boxer, men's underpants or even thong or jockstrap? We often wonder about the type of underwear to favor when you are a man. As if you had to “do like everyone else” to be a good person. Of course, in terms of underwear and classic ready-to-wear, there are real trends. But all the same, gentlemen, admit that at this level of intimacy, it is above all comfort that prevails, right?
In 2016, a survey carried out by Harris Interactive for Tena Men thus revealed that the boxer was the favorite underwear of the French at 44%. A position that seems obvious, but which is to be highlighted with the number 2 of this ranking, the underpants, which collects 40% of the votes far ahead of the underpants (only 15%).
Often deemed outdated, the slip would therefore have more than one trick up its sleeve (well, so to speak). Conversely, boxer shorts would certainly offer maximum freedom… but would not really enhance your body. In terms of colors, men bet on the great classics: black, blue, gray. After all, everyone does what they please!
On the other hand, another study from 2020 leaves us a little more skeptical: only three out of four men say they change their briefs or underpants every day. In terms of personal hygiene, there are therefore still great efforts to be made...
So, boxers, briefs or underpants: which underwear to wear?
In view of what we have just explained, you will understand that there is no clear and definitive answer to this question. However, for perhaps the youngest among you, those who are looking to assert their style down to the waistline, a few basic tips may prove useful.
The boxer
If it is presented as the favorite underwear of the French, the boxer undoubtedly owes it to the perfect compromise it offers, between briefs and boxer shorts. It offers both good support, like briefs, without exposing your buttocks at the slightest movement... And we must admit that it is also often very popular with women, which can prove to be a serious ally for your appointments. you gallants.
Squarely tight, the boxer puts your assets in value by nicely emphasizing your buttocks and slips under all jeans, even the tightest.
The underpants
Yes, we said it: the underpants are still popular! Two imperatives to have style with this piece: avoid the kangaroo shape (with the front pocket) and do not choose a white model...
To be handsome in briefs, pay attention to the material used, avoiding cotton which stretches and fades (in short, which ages badly). This advice is also valid for boxers and justifies the often high price of beautiful underwear (paying 30 euros for a nice piece is not scandalous).
We also recommend a well-cut brief, that is to say that it should not go up to the navel… but should not reveal the famous plumber's smile behind either! Finally, in terms of colors, if not white, stick to sober and classic plain: black, dark blue, grey… but above all, no pattern like on your father's briefs or your childhood!
For those who want to go even further, the thong or even the jockstrap can be tried (and not only for gays)… but it is clearly not a first choice in our opinion!
Underpants
We end this article with the "unloved", which nevertheless has real advantages... especially if you don't like tight underwear. A kind of wide shorts, more or less long, boxer shorts are the ultimate in comfort. You still have to be used to wearing them because the lack (and even the absence) of support can be confusing at first.
Be careful, however, if you want to try the experience, wearing underpants is totally prohibited during sports activities. Otherwise, at 40, the effect of gravity could be devastating on your intimate anatomy. Last advice: after 25, avoid funny boxers with colorful prints and cartoon patterns. Here again, sober and plain colors can turn out to be very elegant and make you an underwear dandy!
