Henri Lloyd, understand the technical differences between the clothing ranges

How to choose a good jacket to navigate?
First of all, users must understand that the best jacket or overalls are useless if we do not practice the 3 -layer technique!
The principle of the 3 layers is simple. It is a question of draining the moisture produced by the body (sweating) and preventing humidity from the body (spray or rain). For this we remove all cotton or wool clothing that soaks humidity.Conversely, modern materials are used (polyester) which leave the body always dry.
Why do manufacturers offer several ranges of jackets?
For a sailor, the choice of a waxed and a overalls are made according to two criteria of main choice:
Henry Lloyd has 3 separate ranges which are aimed at 3 types of users and respond to 3 different budgets:
In these 3 ranges the clothing the mounting work (assembly) is identical on all models.Make a overall for one of the three ranges requires the same workforce. The price difference is explained by the technical choices, materials used, coating or membrane, more numerous reinforcements ... All our clothes are efficient whatever the level of use, but some will have faster wear than others.Hence the importance of choosing your garment according to your use.No need to take a jacket strong enough to support a world tour if you only sail in the Mediterranean two weeks a year in summer ...
Why draw different models depending on the ranges?
Depending on the use, users do not have the same needs. It is fun for example to note that beginners begin by putting on a jacket before putting their overalls when time deteriorates.Conversely, a seasoned sailor will put his overalls quickly and will not put the jacket until much later. He often has sub-layers (fleece, softshell) which protect him well, before needing a jacket.
In addition, a first user likes to have many pockets. This is not the case with a registrar who knows that these pockets will be upset quickly and will not be exploitable.Ditto for the collar: The first prize jackets have a collar double in fleece. It is comfortable when you try it in store, it is much less so when the fleece is impregnated with water ...
In the same way, with the membranes which ensure the waterproofing against the wind and the spray, the jackets are increasingly light. There remains only one layer of fairly fine fabric, without lining.Anyone who has never tried this type of jacket may not feel protected.Suddenly, the models of the first ranges are equipped with a lining which gives a feeling of heat, but also from weight to the jacket.
