Shaïna, raped at 13, killed at 15: "For them, she deserved it"
Shaïna was only 15 when she was killed in a shed in an allotment garden, under the windows of a bar of HLM housing in Creil, in the city of Plateau-Rouher. Stabbed, then burned. Her then-boyfriend, Omar O., bragged to his friends: "I went crazy," they told police after news of the teenager rumored. Shaina was pregnant with Omar. Shaïna had a reputation, she was an "easy girl".
Her murder comes at the end of a long process of violence that the young girl has suffered and in which the boys, the neighborhood, have played a decisive role; At 13, Shaïna was the victim of a gang rape, broadcast live on social networks. The alleged perpetrators: her boyfriend at the time and two of her comrades. Shaïna, deeply traumatized, had chosen to file a complaint. The three are tried by the Senlis children's court from Monday, January 31, as well as a fourth boy for acts of aggression that occurred on another day.

And this rape, broadcast live on social networks, helps to reinforce the bad reputation of Shaïna, a "big whore", as these boys tell her she meets just after her rape, while she is still in shock. . That day, August 31, 2017, Shaïna was forced to join Ahmed in front of a disused clinic in the neighborhood. If she does not come, he will make the intimate photo of the teenager public. Outside the clinic, Ahmed grabs her by the hair, drags her inside. He would have asked her for a blowjob, which she refuses. Two of Ahmed's friends then appeared. They hold the teenager down, force her to undress, sexually assault her, rape her with a tube of Labello. One of the boys even bit her breasts. A video of this ordeal was found by the investigators, we see Shaïna sitting on a bench, trying to cover her nudity with her pants. The boys insult her: "You're a whore", a "big whore". One of the boys throws himself on her, Shaïna struggles, the video stops.
"Shaïna undresses easily"
Shaïna's mother tries to reach her. "She sent me messages all the time," she recalls to Marianne. But I tried to call her, it cut off, she didn't answer. When we found her, she was completely in shock. “Bruises on the body, torn clothes, Shaïna is in a state of amazement. His parents don't hesitate: “I said to him: 'Are we going to the police station?' She said yes. We are quiet people, we have nothing to hide. We wanted justice. »
Has justice been up to it? On several occasions, the trauma experienced by Shaïna appears questioned by the officials to whom she is presented, as revealed by Charlie Hebdo in an investigation published on Wednesday January 26. The medical examiner believes that “we do not perceive any affect of sadness, shame or feeling of guilt. Shaïna speaks and undresses easily. » The policewoman who took her deposition wrote in capital letters: « LET'S SAY THAT DURING THE HEARING Shaïna SHOWED NO PARTICULAR EMOTIONS ».
The teenager's mother does not understand how such declarations could have been recorded: "The police officer said that Shaïna did not show any emotion, but my daughter was in a state of shock. We went to the police station right away. afterwards, it lasted until midnight, Shaïna hadn't eaten anything, I remember that her lips were chapped. »
“We should have hidden our daughter”
“After that, Shaïna remained in the dark for 3 or 4 weeks. We tried to change everything, especially the college. But in the neighborhood, outside, people were always making remarks to him. She was the culprit, she had deserved it, ”recalls her mother. Especially since Ahmed and his alleged accomplices have their own version; Shaina insisted on having sex, they were the ones who refused her. She would have invented everything to get revenge. In the neighborhood, we do not forgive him for having filed a complaint: “Here, some people think that we should have hidden our daughter. You know, we are a Muslim family, but we are open people. In our religion, there is nothing that requires us to hide our daughters. Shaina was our princess. »

Shaïna changes college and continues to endure reproaches and insults. Ahmed is indicted, placed under judicial control in a closed educational center. Against the advice of the prosecution, reports Charlie Hebdo, the investigating judge put an end to this placement after only one month. The young man has the obligation to leave Creil. After a year, he asks to come back. Once again, the examining magistrate accepts, against the advice of the prosecution. Ahmed returns to Creil, as he continues to threaten and harass Shaïna on social media.
“A penalty in the head”
On May 1, 2019, the mechanics of violence took a new step. Ahmed meets Shaïna in the neighborhood, she tries to reach a park, thinking she is protected by the crowd. The boy catches up to her. With several of his friends, he beats up the 15-year-old girl. Hit with a stick, she loses consciousness. A friend of Shaïna present that day tells the police how the young girl was beaten to the ground. The investigation will bring to light exchanges of SMS between the attackers, some of whom congratulate themselves on having "put a penalty in the mouth". Ahmed is indicted for "violence in meetings, death threats and theft". The investigating judge refuses placement in pre-trial detention, does not even place him in a closed educational center. Ahmed remains free, under judicial control.
“After this assault, Shaïna had become even more determined,” her mother tells us. She wanted to become a lawyer, she no longer wanted to let herself be tricked, neither by Ahmed nor by the others. The teenager seems to be aware of her own freedom: she confronts her attackers, files a complaint, confirms her statements even when the investigators are uncooperative. “She was constant on the essentials, she was very courageous, analyzes Master Haeri. Many made him pay for this freedom. If Shaïna had been assaulted by a Guy Georges, then we would have cried for her. But Shaïna was raped by her boyfriend and his friends. “But the violence that Shaïna is part of pre-established relationships, and this should raise questions for us. We never forgive a girl for claiming this form of freedom and seduction”.
A “pro-Omar” neighborhood
Six months after this violent beating, Shaïna was stabbed and burned in a shack in the estate by another boy, her new boyfriend, whom she is pregnant and who does not agree to go out with her, the "easy girl". In the neighborhood, the family does not receive much support. "There are a lot of people who are pro-Omar [from the name of the alleged assassin]", confides, in a resigned tone, Shaina's mother. How can you support a man suspected of murdering a teenage girl? “For them, my daughter deserved it, she should never have filed a complaint against Ahmed. She should have shut up. »
The mother even explains that she was pressured: “A lady came to my house and told me not to make accusations against Omar. I was told she was from his family. “While Shaïna has just died, a man also comes to their home. "Rumors say that witnesses have been approached to mitigate their statements... We can't understand that, how these people can blame our daughter. »
How many Shaïna?
“The murder of Shaïna proves wrong all those who, in the first two cases, reversed the responsibilities, making her the one who provoked and the person responsible for her situation . She is a sort of martyr figure for all of us, so that we finally take these issues of sexual and gender-based violence seriously, ”said Negar Haeri. And it doesn't matter if the protagonists have changed: “It's the same continuum of violence that continues. »
A continuum of violence which, in Creil and elsewhere, has other young victims. With the same mechanics: obtaining sexual favors from young girls, then using them to blackmail them and dispose of their bodies. Once designated as “easy girls”, they can be dehumanized and, in the most extreme cases, killed. “We know very well that there are plenty of other Shainas in the neighborhood. These young girls are ashamed: they will never file a complaint for acts of rape, their boyfriend can blackmail them”, worries Shaïna's mother. The four alleged attackers of the teenager will be tried on Monday January 31 and Tuesday February 1. No date has yet been set for the trial of Omar, indicted for the murder of the young girl.
