This vintage fashion expert has the most incredible collection of Helmut Lang pieces in the world
Where did your interest in fashion come from? “I became interested in fashion when I was studying art history at the University of East Anglia, Norwich. I tried at all costs to integrate contemporary fashion into my curriculum. I wrote dissertations on jeans and my dissertation was on how Ann Demeulemeester cuts her jackets.
What inspired you to collect clothes? “During my studies, I made some money as a dealer, which allowed me at the same time to learn a lot about craftsmanship and the secrets of making. I became interested in Helmut Lang in 2011, when nobody was interested in 90s minimalism. A few years after finishing my studies and launching my website, I had an appointment with a designer of great fashion house, and they asked me if I was renting. Since that day, my collection has become a veritable archive.”
Where do you find your parts?“I look everywhere. If there is a stone, I will look under it. And then people find me on Google – they send me emails and private messages. And we do business with people I know personally. On average, there is one new article per day.”
